Last year I went to Blog Out Loud Ottawa (BOLO) organized by the lovely and sweet Lynn. This is one of the best blogging events of the year in Ottawa, where bloggers come to read out loud their favourite posts to much clapping and adoration by friends and other bloggers. Or something. Last year was my first year blogging and so I just went to listen. I loved the evening so much that this year I decided that I would really like to participate. So when Lynn spread the word about this year’s event, I submitted a post, and was lucky enough to be chosen to read. Lynn wrote this very lovely blurb about me, and I couldn’t believe how easily she had captured me just by reading my blog. As for the upcoming event itself, I am excited and petrified.
The Ottawa blogging community is rich, deeply layered, and incredibly supportive. I have met friends through blogging who have become very close and dear to me. By reading someone’s blog for a while, you can get to know a person very well, and then when you meet in real life, there is often an instant connection. You already know each other through reading and commenting on each other’s blogs. It’s fantastic for introverts like me.
No Less awkwardness!
All are welcome this Thursday July 7, 2011 – 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. – at The Prescott on Preston at Beech.
I hope to see you there. It really is a ton of fun. I will be the one hiding in the corner looking uncomfortable.
