It is amazing with this many events how smoothly it all goes. I extend a sincere thank you and congratulations to the organizers of this day, because it is just fantastic. Plus? It didn’t rain and I have no idea how the organizers pulled THAT off. Well done!
Tony and I competed together in the canoe relay triathlon. Together we canoed 5K, then Tony biked for 23K, and I ran for 5K. Other than running in race weekend two weeks ago and playing some tennis, we didn’t train for this race other than doing this:
Although we have our own canoe and paddles that are suitable for puttering around a cottage, we rented a racing canoe and paddles from Trailhead, and it was so worthwhile. The canoe was so light my nine-year-old could have portaged it, and the paddles made us fly. Wheeee!
Here are Tony and I before the race. Looking good, Team Frankie!
Here I am in my cute new skirt. Yes, it did indeed make me run faster.
We had a good canoe and finished third out of five; the canoe relay has a pretty small field, though we got to paddle with the kayakers too. The team who came in first were a mixed team like us, and in second place were two men, so not bad for us.
Tony had a great bike and here he is coming into the transition zone:
And I had a personal best in my 5K so I was darn pleased and tired.
And here we are after it’s all over, feeling just fine.
Tomorrow, weather permitting, we have a tennis lesson, and then we plan to spend some time at West Fest. This is what a spring weekend in Ottawa is all about.
Congratulations to Tony and Finola on your participation and excellent results in the triathlon.
And that wasn't the end of their exertions yesterday. They came out to my house mid-afternoon and did a bunch of gardening for me. Tony pruned the shrubs, Finola did some flower planting and staked some other plants that were getting top-heavy. And beautiful little N and B contributed their charming company.
They're a great family.
Wow, I'm impressed with your energy levels! You guys make a very cute couple 🙂
Holy smokes – you guys are amazing. What a fabulous way to spend time together….and I like the training program you followed for this one. I think I could follow one like that:) Well done.
You guys are amazing!
Thanks All! Especially Mom 🙂
Congratulations! Wow, what a feat. You are inspiring! 🙂
