Book Club Choice

Thank you everyone for taking the time to vote for my book club’s next read. Thanks also for the many great book suggestions that you sent that weren’t on my original list. I have noted them all because I’m always looking for something good to read, and I know that you, Dear Readers, would never steer me wrong.

People voted by commenting on my blog post, but also by email, Facebook and Twitter. Many of you already know what book I have chosen, but let’s do a drum roll anyway. The winner is:

[DRUM ROLL]

The Bone Cage by Angie Abdou!

I must confess that once the author commented on my blog post, and then mentioned via Twitter the possibility of attending our humble meeting in person, I picked her book before even tallying the votes. However, I have now tallied the votes and her book did in fact win by a margin of three votes over the second place Bel Canto. After that, One Day, Sanctuary Line and The Slap all tied for third.

I am very much looking forward to reading this book, and I just loved that so many people took an interest in commenting here. I love that people are so passionate about books and reading.

Ms. Abdou, the tentative date for our meeting is May 5th, but we will happily change the date if you will be coming to Ottawa at another time!

That's so neat she might come to your meeting! Between the endorsements of the book and the obvious coolness of the author, I think I'm going to have to check this one out.

Nice article, thanks for the information.

Just purchased the book. How exciting Ms. Abdou commented on your blog! 🙂

Wow, neat! I keep wanting to get back to reading (but it will mean cutting back on tweeting, for starters ;). Perhaps picking up something that I know I can talk about will help… or perhaps just waiting until the kids can read for themselves 😉

  5. Karen says:

That is so cool that you got a comment from the author. You'll definitely have to blog about the visit when it happens!

Cool! The author commented on your blog! Love it. I used to belong to a virtual book club on a book review site and the only time an author visited was to lash out regarding a bad review. That was not as much fun :).
