I am participating in National Blog Posting Month, NaBloPoMo, where I will be posting every day in the month of November.
Thought so! I am a proud and lucky Mom today. Last week two good report cards came home, and on yesterday I participated in two positive parent/teacher interviews. Both interviews ran short of the allotted 15 minutes given, which I took to be a good sign. Problems usually take longer to discuss than successes.
I love hearing good things about my daughters. I could tell you good things about them all day, but isn’t it nice for a parent to hear those good things from other people? During one of the interviews, I could have sat in my little chair in that classroom all morning listening to the compliments, but after a while the teacher started looking at me like maybe I should move along now.
When Intrepid first started school, we used to have 30 minute parent-teacher interviews instead of the regular 15. I always knew it was bad when I saw that block of time allotted to him. (He had behaviour issues that were a direct result of his then-undiagnosed hearing loss).
The very first time we had a 15 minute block of time, I was thrilled. And the first time I started hearing compliments instead of complaints, I was over the moon! Giddy, even. Can you imagine me giddy? It's not a good scene.
Glad the interviews went well. Those compliments are awesome, aren't they? 🙂
I've been reading and enjoying! your blog in bulk rather than daily so my comments are for the latest block.
Of course, N & B got good report cards and positive comments. No-brainer there but still nice to read about 🙂
Congrats on the blogging award!
I wonder about the litterless lunch rules too. I think at our school if the container is recyclable then that is okay so yoghurt tubs are fine – but not the lids! I keep trying to decant from the big tub, too but it just doesn't happen as often. We end up washing our lunch boxes in the washing machine – I hate a grubby lunch box and could not bear to eat from one. But by far my biggest complaint is our kids have so little time to eat. They are prohibited from taking snacks out for recess and are given so little time to eat that much of what gets packed in the lunch box comes home. Especially the most nutritious foods like raw veggies because they take the most time to chew. Then, by the end of the day the kids are puddles on the floor. Sigh. Occasionally we are fortunately enough to get an observant and empathetic teacher who will notice when a kid is running low AND actually let them eat something during class.
The black bean and leak and potato soup recipes look yummy. If I look in your window and wave at you can I have some? Please? LOL
Okay, I'll go now.
