Conversation With My Eight-Year-Old Daughter N. NaBloPoMo Day 6

I am participating in National Blog Posting Month, NaBloPoMo, where I will be posting every day in the month of November.

Me (after having just gotten off the treadmill): You know, you are lucky to have a fit and active Mom.

N (not looking as impressed as I would have thought): Yeah. (Pause) But some Mothers take their kids rock-climbing.

Me (feeling a little deflated): When we looked at rock-climbing it was really expensive, and you already do a lot of fun things. Plus we take you to the MEC climbing wall sometimes on Sundays.

N (worried that she is getting in touble): OK, OK. (not said rudely).

(Longer pause)

Me: Who takes their kids rock climbing?

N: Well I don’t actually know anyone, but I have seen some Moms on TV do it.

Me: Gah! I can’t compete with TV Moms!

N: No, but they are real Moms taking their kids rock climbing.

Me (possibly stretching the truth just a little bit): But Honey, if a TV show offered to film us rock climbing, even I would say yes to that.

N (not really believing me): Oh. OK Mom.

Yes, this sweet girl really knows me well. Love her.
