One week post eye surgery, and after today I will be able to stop taking antibiotic drops and steroid drops every few hours. I will still need the lubricating drops for a while longer because eyes tend to be dry for a while after this surgery. That has definitely been the case for me, though it is getting better slowly.
Plus I won’t have to wear my ridiculous-looking goggles for sleeping anymore. The goggles consist of just the plastic eye pieces with air holes in them, and then you get to tape them onto your face. Yes. Tape. They kept falling off my face in the night and they were incredibly uncomfortable, so I had switched to wearing sunglasses as I slept, which is only marginally less ridiculous-looking. This part was not the glamourous part of the surgery.
And the best part about being one week after surgery is that I can start wearing eye make-up again. It’s not that I wear a lot, but a little eyeliner and mascara do a lot for me. In honour of this, I may just go shopping for some new make-up and a new eyelash curler. I would love your recommendations as I’m not much of a girly-girl with such things.
I have been very happy with this surgery so far. I feel so much more comfortable throughout the day not having my glasses falling down my nose, and I like that people can see my eyes, even though they are still somewhat red and naked. I like the look so much better that I am even wearing a saucy ponytail today, which I never did very often with glasses. For some reason it seemed very severe before, but now it looks….kicky, if I may say so.
In other news I have been posting more frequently and my Google Analytics numbers have been thanking me. I don’t worry too much about numbers, but watching a trend going upwards is very motivating to me. I think I have posted more this week than I have since last winter when I first started this blog. I hope I can keep it up.
In still other news, my brother and his girlfriend are leaving for a two year stint in Nunavut early next week and this is the weekend of all of the good-bye parties. I am so happy for them, and so sad that they will be so far away. Luckily for us they will be able to travel back relatively frequently, but it is just so darned far away. We are going to miss them so very much, but wish them an AWESOME adventure together.
