My kids were in a daycamp last week that they loved. It was scheduled for every day last week, including Canada Day, and so I loved it too. I found it odd but so pleasant to have a stat holiday with no children around. And what did I do with myself all day you ask? Tony and I worked like dogs, all around the outside of the house. We cleaned out our two front flower beds, tidied the junk and basement construction mess from the back porch and the garage, we bought a cushy outdoor coffee table set on sale, and finally got the outside of our house looking less like the embarrassing neighbour house that every one around tries to avoid. Yes, it really was that bad. I really wish I had taken some before pictures because then this post would be a lot more interesting, but here are is an after shot of my newly organized garage.
You can get inside. And get stuff out of it. It is a thing of wonder.
Now here is the front garden, which is still a work in progress, but before Thursday, all you could see were weeds. Now we are just waiting for some friends to dig out some plants that we no longer want so that we can finish it all off.
And here is my new summer home. You can see my netbook, my paper book and my flip flops. All that is missing is the yummy beverage to go with it all. Forgive me for not photographing that too. It was still early in the day.
So after working all day on Canada Day, I could then be indulgent on Friday and enjoy our newly cleaned up back deck. Because you know I just had to use a vacation day on Friday. Did I mention that my kids were in camp? It was a well deserved day off for this busy and tired Mama!
