My Top Five…Plus a Few Extras

Oh my this is going to be a frivolous post, and I do apologize. It started with the following exchange on Twitter:

@Finola wrote:
Just watched House….I’m thinking it wasn’t real. Thoughts? Also, Hugh Laurie is totally in my top 5.

@JATetro wrote:
It was real. Just takes some time to get used to a happy ending. And Top 5, eh? Wonder who’s on the list!

@Finola wrote:
That would be cool if it’s real…..and for the list, maybe that should be a blog post 🙂

@JATetro wrote:
I think anything that involves you developing conversation should be a blog. And because I still want to know who’s on the list! 😉

@Finola wrote:
LOL…OK, I have started writing my list. Will be tough to narrow down to just 5!

@JATetro wrote:
Leave Brad, George, Matt and Johnny out of the list, k? Be more inventive than that! 😉

@Finola wrote:
Goodness, of course none of those! Matt who??

@JATetro wrote:
I’m glad to hear that…would hate to see you waste one of your 5 on those guys…I’d also have to say “Damon you!” too

So now I feel like it’s a challenge, you know. To come up with five really great picks. To clarify, this is not a “freebie list” like in the Friends episode. Though, I am curious, would you ever agree to a freebie list with your partner?

So without further ado, and in no particular order:

Hugh Laurie
Colin Firth
Tom Hanks
Harry Connick Jr
Phil Keoghan
Paul Gross
Daniel Day-Lewis
Jake Gyllenhaal
Ben Stiller
Andrew McCarthy

Rats, that’s ten, not five. Please note, no Brad Pitt types at all on here. Also note that I went with celebrity types only, otherwise YOU would totally be on my list.

And now just for fun I asked my husband Tony for his top 5:

Tina Fey
Lauren Graham
Erin Karpluk
Annette Bening

Then beyond that he couldn’t name any. And I actually came up with Tina Fey for him.

So who is on your list, @JATetro, and Others?

    I have to admit, being put on the spot like this can be a bit terrifying but if I had to choose my top 5:

    Annie Wersching (she's the whole deal!)

    Cate Blanchett (had the Jones for her for years!)

    Edyta Sliwinska (one of the most amazing dancers in the world!)

    Dana Bash (she's the reason I watch CNN…sorry AC)

    Stacy Kiebler (she can dance and she can wrestle!)

  2. Finola says:

    Jason, I agree that it's not easy to write this one because it does give people an insight to who you are.
    Great list, but I had to look up 4/5 of yours 🙂

  3. Nat says:

    Oh god, I am so boy crazy, this could be a long list.

    Eddie Vedder (see it could stop there really.)

    Matt Cameron

    Jensen Ackles (as Dean Winchester)

    Lance Reddick (but as Broyles from Fringe)

    Allan Hawco (who is really too cute for words.)

    I could think up more, I'm sure.

  4. Lynn says:

    Do you think your list reveals that you have a “type”? I never thought I had a distinctive type, but the men I'd put on my list all have too much in common, physically speaking, for it to be a coincidence.

    As for the list itself, it's too embarrassing to share. Someday when I've had one too many, I'll drunkenly blog post it :).

  5. Jeff says:

    My Top Five:

    Bif Naked
    Gilda Radner
    Tracey Ullman
    Chrissie Hynde

    However also on the list …

    Joan Jett
    Eliza Dushku
    Lisa Simpson
    Maggie Gyllenhaal
    Sarah Silverman

  6. My husband has Annette Benning on his list too. I have Clive Owen on my list. It's a short list. 🙂

  7. mustangsabby says:

    OK so I had to comment on this, I've lurked until now but this is too fun for a Friday!

    Clive Owen – Ummm in anything, really…
    James Purefoy – he was scrumptious in Vanity Fair
    Hugh Jackman – Loved his roughness in Australia, or perhaps Kate & Leopold, Van Helsing…
    James McAvoy – He was quite nice in Becoming Jane, also in Wanted
    Matthew Macfayden – He IS my Mr. Darcy

    I'm sensing a pattern… oh dear…

  8. Finola says:

    Nat, I don't even know any of those people – I must look them up!

    Lynn, Embarrassing? I am intrigued. I'll buy the drinks 🙂

    Jeff, Great list. Can I add Sarah Silverman to my list too?

    MM, You obviously know what you like 🙂

    Mustangsabby, I'm so glad you delurked. Hi! I cannot believe I forgot Hugh Jackman….sigh.

  9. XUP says:

    I mostly just have Antonio Banderas on my list. I'm kind of exclusive like that.

  10. Now, this IS fun! Despite not knowing half the people on all of your lists because … well … yeah, Brad Pitt? Come on! Even these days, all scraggly and boozed up, he's still hot to me! 🙂

    But, I think my number one might be Jon Stewart, from The Daily Show.

    Others that I wouldn't kick out include Hugh Jackman, Clive Owen and Joaquin Phoenix. Oh, and if I played on the other team, I'd totally include Sarah Silverman too!

  11. Fun! I actually did a similar post recently. Great minds think alike, huh? 🙂

    Mine were Colin Firth (woohoo, Mr. Darcy!), Hugh Jackman, Harrison Ford, Josh Holloway (the guy who played Sawyer on Lost), and Viggo Mortensen.

  12. gryph says:

    Oooh dear… let's see, in no particular order:

    Colin Firth
    Clive Owen
    Jude Law (is he too celebrity type?)
    Gerard Butler (in Beowulf, before I knew he smoked – blarg)
    Russell Crowe (that's a long term one)
    Tony Stewart
    Jon Stewart (totally different)
    William Petersen (Grissom *sigh*)
    Mark Harmon (Gibbs *sigh*)

    um, I'll stop there… hee hee

  13. DaniGirl says:

    Oh what fun! I think I will totally steal this idea and replay it over on my blog, but first I will have to reflect on who's worthy of my list.

    (Thanks Nat, I wouldn't have thought of Eddie Vedder on my own, but now that you mention it, yeah —* sigh. That song “Breathe” totally gets me.)
