I had a fabulous week.
I had a great interval run on Tuesday. For the first time I was able to start at a decent pace, and then speed it up for the last couple of intervals. In the first few weeks of doing my intervals, I was a bit discouraged because I would usually have to slow down a little after the first few intervals. This run felt really good.
Then I had a great tempo run on Thursday, running at the middle of the range given to me by my trainer, instead of at the slower end of the range. I really felt this week like my few weeks of targeted training have made a difference.
I’m supposed to run 16K this weekend and I’m going to go for it. I will not plan in advance to cut a little bit off.
I ran 15.7K on Saturday and I felt pretty great I have to say. It was long, and there was a tough wind, which at times was a huge help, and at other times was an awful hindrance. At one point I had my longest uphill climb right into the wind, and it was really tough, but knowing that I could walk for a minute at the top kept me going. I had some Gu at the halfway mark, and it was Gu-y….but I think it may have helped me not fade at the very end.
My time was 1h, 42 minutes. I find that quite respectable, and I am very happy.
